AR for MSPs & IT services

You run their IT.
Get paid for it.

An MSP bills every client every month, plus projects, hardware, and overage hours. Most pay. The ones that don’t are usually disputing a line, missing a PO, or failing on a card nobody has updated.

Why it gets stuck

Recurring revenue only recurs if someone collects it.

01

The card on file failed

Autopay declined, the retry failed, and the invoice is now 45 days old because the notice went to someone who left.

02

Disputed hours

The client questions the overage hours or a project line, and holds the whole invoice while they wait for the time entries.

03

Seat counts that changed

The client added or removed users mid-month, and the invoice doesn’t match the number they think they agreed to.

04

A PO the client needs

Larger clients won’t pay a project or hardware invoice without a PO number on it, and nobody asked for one.

05

The offboarding client

A client that is leaving stops responding, and the final invoices sit unpaid while the team moves on.

06

Too many small invoices

Hundreds of monthly invoices across small clients, and the team only has time to chase the large ones.

How Alder handles it

Your client relationships are the business, so Alder starts read-only. It shows you the follow-ups it would send and the disputes it has researched, and anything a client sees waits for your approval.

01

Follows up on every invoice

Recurring, project, and time-and-materials invoices all get followed up in the original email thread, so small clients get the same attention as large ones.

02

Catches failed payments

When an autopay charge fails, Alder flags it and follows up with the right billing contact to update the payment method before the invoice ages.

03

Researches disputes

When a client questions hours, seats, or a project line, Alder pulls the agreement, the invoice, and the related emails, and hands you a recommended response with the evidence.

04

Matches the payments

Payments that cover several invoices, or arrive from a parent company, are matched to the right invoices so the aging report shows what is really open.

Questions

What is a good DSO for an MSP?

For a managed service provider billing monthly on net-15 or net-30 terms, a DSO close to the stated terms is achievable, because most recurring revenue is billed in advance and paid by card or ACH. A DSO well above terms usually points to project or time-and-materials invoices, failed autopay, or disputed lines rather than slow payment across the board.

Why do MSP clients dispute invoices?

The most common reasons are overage or out-of-scope hours the client didn’t expect, seat or device counts that changed mid-period, project invoices without the client’s PO number, and charges billed after the client believed the service had ended. Resolving them quickly depends on having the agreement and time entries to hand.

Does Alder integrate with ConnectWise, Autotask, or HaloPSA?

Yes. Alder connects to ConnectWise PSA, Autotask, and HaloPSA for agreements, time entries, and invoices, and to QuickBooks, Xero, and NetSuite for the ledger, so it can answer a dispute over hours with the time entries attached.

Will Alder contact my clients without approval?

No. You set tone, escalation, and approval rules once, and anything that touches a client waits for your approval. Every deployment starts read-only.
